Schiltz Harvesting offers seasonal employment from approx. May 1st through December1st.  If you are interested in learning to operate a variety of equipment, see the sights of the mid-western United States, and want to make new friendships that can last a lifetime, this may be for you.  We are a small family run business that treat our employees like part of our family.

We are looking for individuals who are team players.  There is no ‘I’ in team.  Everything must be done for the best results of the crew and the customer.  You might have your way of doing things, but you must be willing to do them Jerry’s way!  Respect and safety are our first two concerns.  Respect is for your employer, the equipment, the customer, and each other.  Safety is for yourself, others, and the equipment.

You will receive a monthly salary, two meals a day, and room.  Packed lunches are prepared and brought to the field while a hot meal is served at night at the campsite.  You will stay in one of two 40’ campers.  These are inspected and approved by the Labor Dept each year.

We also provide a crew car for everyone to share.  Some of the sights the previous employees have visited include Six Flags amusement parks, the Rocky Mountains, county fairs/rodeos, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis motorcycle rally, and local attractions along the harvest trail.  A few of the larger cities traveled to include Denver CO, Kansas City, Dallas TX, Rapid City SD, Wichita Falls TX, Bismarck ND, and occasionally into Canada.  Everyone leaves with great memories!

There are, of course, some requirements for employment.  We prefer someone with an agricultural background and some mechanical experience.  However, this is not mandatory and I will train the right person.  We also prefer non-smokers.  You will not be allowed to smoke in the company vehicles, campers, or in the fields.  This is for personal preference and insurance purposes. Some of the requirements are:

                  1.      Must have a clean driving record and current driver’s license.  Insurance requirement.

2.      Must have or be willing to obtain a CDL.  Everyone on the crew must have one.

3.      Must submit to and pass pre-employment and random drug testing.

4.      Must have no medical conditions to prevent job productivity.

5.      Must have no physical conditions to prevent job productivity.

6.      Must be committed to the entire season.

If you are interested in becoming part of our ‘harvest family’ feel free to call or e-mail anytime for more information. Check the "Contact Us" tab at the top of the page for addresses and phone numbers. If you would like names of previous employees, we will be glad to give them to you.  You deserve references just as we do!  We know this is a big decision and want you to think it through before making a commitment.  Don't forget to sign our guestbook!
